La prima donna ad indossare un bikini è stata Micheline Bernardini, una spogliarellista del Casino de Paris nel 1946.

Ma il bikini venne lanciato sul mercato americano grazie ad un film del 1958, “Piace a troppi”, conosciuto anche come “E Dio creò la donna” che vedeva protagonista Brigitte Bardot.

Il nome “bikini” deriva da quello di un atollo delle isole Marshall, Bikini appunto, dove negli anni ‘50 si eseguivano dei test nucleari. L’inventore del bikini, Louis Réard scelse questo nome, infatti, proprio er sottolineare la portata esclusiva ed esplosiva del due pezzi.
The name “bikini” comes out from the name of an atoll of the Marshall Islands, Bikini as I said, where during the Fifties took place nuclear tests. The inventor of the bikini, Louis Réard, chose this name, exactly because he wanted to underline the exclusive and explosive scope of the bikini.
Il bikini ha poi reso famose numerose attrici e numerose scene di numerosi film.
Per esempio possiamo citare 007 Licenza di Uccidere con la famosissim scena di Ursula Andress che esce dall’acqua con un bikini bianco a cui è attaccata la fodera della sua pistola.
